A key component of
our academic program is the Florida Voluntary Pre- Kindergarten
(VPK) program. VPK is a result of the state’s desire
to provide early childhood education to all pre-kindergarten students
whose families desire it. While the state mandates a quality experience
for all VPK students, we are dedicated to surpassing the requirements
so that our graduates are fully equipped with the tools necessary
to succeed throughout elementary school and beyond. We are pleased
to have our VPK classes included in a performance pilot-program
sponsored by the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach
County, which includes the DLM Early Childhood Express and Imagine
It! curricula, both published by The Wright Group, a division
of McGraw Hill. These high-quality curricula are known for their
impressive results at the level of early childhood learning and
elementary preparedness. Our philosophy is to put before each
student the challenges he or she is ready for and to give each
the tools to meet those challenges in a developmentally appropriate
and, most important, enjoyable environment. We promote learning
through enriched play and instill a “can do” attitude
through consistent encouragement, enabling children to explore
their world in a safe and nurturing environment. click

In 1939 a group of
compassionate, visionary women of Bethesda-by-the Sea Church,
who undertook a plan to teach the women of struggling families
how to help themselves and their families, in hopes of relieving
poverty and unemployment. Their success became Opportunity, Inc.
and their legacy lives today in our academic excellence, our extended
outreach program and our emergence as a full-service community
center. Today, Opportunity, Inc. and our Board
of Directors are known as a “model of excellence,”
maintaining best business practices while reaching deeper into
the community to touch the lives of our students, their caregivers
and their village.
