#HalfMyDAF is a giving challenge to those with Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs). This challenge was created by Jennifer and David Risher, who made tens of millions of dollars from their early Microsoft and Amazon stock options. Like many wealthy donors, they opened a Donor-Advised Fund (non-profit checking account) and parked their dollars there without a plan how to use it.
Recognizing the needs of charities making a positive impact on society, the Rishers started #HalfMyDAF and challenged donors to unlock capital from their Donor-Advised Funds, make donations, receive an immediate tax deduction, and make grant recommendations over time. To participate, donors need to commit to spending down half of their Donor-Advised Funds by September 30 and nominate their chosen non-profits to be eligible to receive a matching grant. If selected, charity grants will be matched up to $10,000. There are also several matches available at the $50,000 and $100,000 level.
We challenge you to discover the importance of community. Join #HalfMyDAF, make a Donor-Advised Fund donation to Opportunity, and become part of the change Opportunity is making in the lives of children.
