Naomi Rosenberg’s longtime commitment to Opportunity Inc. was recognized at that organization’s holiday luncheon and boutique.

The event, Shop for Opportunity, took place Dec. 9 and honored Rosenberg with the Winifred Anthony Award for her years of dedication to the center and its children. Rosenberg, a former board member, said Opportunity Inc.’s engagement of parents in their children’s education has kept her committed to the organization.

The afternoon included a social hour and shopping at vendor boutiques, choral performances by the Rosarian Academy and Palm Beach Day Academy choirs, a luncheon and the recognition of Danette Volmy with the RISE AWARD, presented to the family or individual who acheived the most from the services received through the organization.

Volmy, a single mother of two, overcame several challenges, including the loss of her children’s father. Because of the support and training from Opportunity, she is about to graduate from nursing school.

Proceeds from the luncheon benefit Opportunity Inc., whuch since 1939 has been providing developmental programs for the children of working families in Palm Beach County.

Opportunity currently serves 96 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
