Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center
Event: Give On the Go
When: Launched Nov. 11, 2015
Where: Online, throughout Palm Beach County
What: Opportunity’s #GiveOnTheGo campaign took a new approach to fundraising by combining social media with philanthropy. For 60 days, friends and supporters were encouraged to donate to Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center from any location, then share photos of them doing so, on social media. The online event raised $2,400 for the organization and donors showed their creativity.
#GiveOnTheGo publicly launched Opportunity’s capital campaign: Opportunity Knocks, which seeks to create an endowment for the organization and build a new campus to serve up to 200 children.
At this time, Opportunity has raised $5.5 million of its $8.6 million goal.
Who: Waverly Shirreffs, Event Chair
Proceeds: All proceeds go toward Opportunity’s Capital Campaign: Opportunity Knocks. For more than 75 years Opportunity has been a second home to the children of working families in Palm Beach County. The center currently serves 96 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, with a waiting list of more than 300. The capital campaign will allow Opportunity to acquire a new building so it can provide life-changing programs to more children and their families.
