Opportunity, Inc. of Palm Beach County offers low cost, quality preschool child care, educational programming and parent support to low income families, single parent families, and families in crisis. With support from community based agencies to include United Way, Opportunity, Inc. has forged several service related alliances to deliver no cost outreach services to the clientele we serve. These services include but are not limited to: tax preparation services, credit counseling, homeownership, educational/vocational counseling, benefits navigation, nutrition education, health services, food supplies, human resource development, technical support, parental skills training, low cost food purchasing program, access to health care services, emergency crisis assistance. Examples of the success of these services include: increased family income capacity, purchase first home ability, ability to engage in continuing education and start a business.

Opportunity, Inc. offers a comprehensive nationally accredited program of school readiness, training, fine and performing arts, recreation, health and nutrition, social development and field trip enrichment specifically designed to prepare disadvantaged children to begin public school on an equal footing with their classmates. Accredited by the National Accreditation Commission, recognized as a Gold Seal School of Excellence by the Florida Department of Children and Families, and rated four star by the Florida Quality Improvement System of Palm Beach County, the Opportunity Early Childhood Center employs fully certified teachers who are required to pursue continued education in Early Childhood development.

Opportunity, Inc. celebrates it's 70th anniversary since it was founded by the compassionate, visionary women of Bethesda-by-the Sea Church who believed that poverty and unemployment could be relieved by helping women help themselves and their families. We believe we have continued this legacy today by emerging as a “model of excellence”. We have been able to advance our cause though the development of an extended outreach program to enhance the educational programming. Today, Opportunity is a full-service community center which provides superior educational programming and community out reach services, and has been modeled as a center of excellence by maintaining best business practice to reach deeper into the community to touch the lives of our students, their caregivers and their village.

For the last several years, Opportunity, Inc. has pursued a philosophy of providing much needed early childhood educational experiences that allow disadvantaged children to enter public school on equal footing with their more advantaged classmates so that Opportunity children may succeed in kindergarten and beyond. We provide opportunities for children to explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment, promote learning through enriched play and instill a “can do” attitude through consistent encouragement.

And so it was that Opportunity, Inc. was born - a simple beginning that has endured through the years with a mission of helping to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and neglect.
