Guests felt like they were stepping onto a chic private yacht at the Opportunity Gala 2016. The February 26 fundraiser at The Breakers entitled “Charting the Course” benefits Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center.

Attendees were welcomed into the cocktail hour with Dixie Southern Vodka Martinis. Volunteers wearing captain’s hats directed guests to the silent auction and wine grab. One lucky couple selected a 1982 Chateau Latour Grand Vin bottle.

Inside the Venetian Ballroom, soft apricot lighting accentuated tables filled with fresh flowers, ships lanterns and sparkling candles. Paramount Dance Studio dancers opened the dance floor and were soon joined by the crowd eager to enjoy music by the VoxBlu Band. Opportunity student Jalen Maligno performed a spur of the moment version of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” The four year old captured hearts inspiring guests to donate.

“It was truly a lovely evening, a perfect combination of elegance and entertainment, and of course no one forgot the purpose of the evening was to help children,” said Marty Straton who co-chaired the event with Millie Dayton.

Proceeds from the gala fund the daily operations at Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center. Opportunity has been providing developmental programs for the children of working families in Palm Beach County since 1939.
