Holiday shoppers looking for one-of-a-kind gifts found a unique collection at the annual Opportunity Holiday Luncheon & Boutique. The December 9th event at The Beach Club, titled Shop for Opportunity, brought together 12 vendors including HIVE and Norcross Patio & Gifts. Whether they selected accessories for their home or for themselves, guests knew each purchase was helping the children of Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center.

As attendees shopped and socialized they sipped delicious signature, rum punch with BACARDI® Gold. The festive atmosphere was accented by the voices of children as the choirs from Rosarian Academy and Palm Beach Day Academy performed holiday songs.

“When you see the faces of the children at Opportunity, it makes all the work that went into planning this event worthwhile,” said event chair Joan Klann. “This organization does more than educate children, it provides hope for their families. I am so proud to be a part of that,” Klann continued.

The luncheon also offers a chance for the organization to recognize a family or individual who has benefitted from its programs. Danette Volmy received this year’s R.I.S.E. Award. The young mother of two overcame several challenges including the loss of her children’s father. Thanks to the support of Opportunity’s programs, she is about to graduate from nursing school.

Former Opportunity Board Member, Naomi Rosenberg, received the Winifred C. Anthony Award for her years of dedication to the children of Opportunity. Rosenberg says the fact that Opportunity engages parents in their children’s education, has kept her committed to the organization.
